Welcome, I’m Petra!
Hi, my name is Petra Salisbury and I’m the face behind Cuddly Stitches Craft. I am passionate about anything crochet and I especially love designing crochet toys.
I was first introduced to handmade crafts by my mum, who is super talented and can simply create anything you can think of! I have very fond memories of the time spent with her learning how to knit and embroider when I was a little girl.
But it was not until much later in my life when I found my passion for crochet. I still remember that wonderful feeling when I finished my first Amigurumi toy and how happy my daughter Natalka was to receive a toy that mummy made especially for her!

Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question? Why don’t you search for the answer in the FAQ below.
Not at all, Amigurumi is actually quite easy to learn and is lots of fun! All you need is the knowledge of a few basic stitches and a bit of patience. I suggest you explore my Amigurumi tutorials to learn more about this wonderful craft. But be warned, Ami can be highly addictive.
This is a question I get asked a lot so I have written a detailed article about what types of yarn there are available and what I personally recommend as the best yarn for Amigurumi crochet.
Yes, absolutely. My crochet animal patterns work great with a variety of different yarns including worsted weight yarn. Your crochet toy will just be a bit bigger than specified.
However, I wouldn’t use worsted weight yarn for making my loveys as they could feel a bit bulky. I prefer using thinner yarn such as Sport yarn #2 of Light worsted yarn #3 for a nice cuddly feel.
Having said that, my lovey patterns will absolutely work with worsted weight yarn if that’s the type of yarn you prefer using. But bear in mind that your loveys will be a bit bigger than specified in this pattern.
I have a very detailed tutorial on how to read Amigurumi patterns. Why don’t you make a cuppa and have a read. And if you still need help, you can always contact me or post your question in our Cuddly Stitches Community.

My free patterns are only available online on my blog and are not printable. If you would like to download a PDF version of my patterns then you can purchase them for a small fee from my Etsy store or Ravelry store.
Etsy doesn’t email digital files therefore you have to download your PDF patterns from ‘purchases’ in your Etsy account. Unfortunately, this doesn’t work on the Etsy app so instead you have to access your purchases in your Etsy account using a computer. Or access your Etsy account via your Internet browser on your phone or tablet. Please get in touch if you are still having issues.
