In this crochet video tutorial, I am going to show you how to shape animal hooves for Amigurumi. Crochet hoof sculpting is a very simple and quick technique that helps you create a more realistic looking hoof on your Amigurumi toy. You can also use this technique to shape toes when working on your crochet toy’s feet.

How to Shape Animal Hooves for Amigurumi – Instructions:
In this video I use US crochet terminology.
Step1: insert a pin at the top of the hoof, roughly in the centre of the leg
Step2: thread your needle with a yarn of your choice
Step3: insert the needle in the centre of the magic ring at the bottom of the hoof
Step4: pull the needle through the hoof and come out through the stitch you marked with the pin
Step5: pull all the way through leaving a yarn tail at the bottom of the hoof
Step6: repeat Step 3 and Step 4 again
Step7: you will be left with two yarn tails, pull on each of them really tight to shape the hoof and tie a double knot close to the centre of the magic ring at the bottom of the hoof
Step8: weave both yarn tails in tightly through the centre of the magic ring, while pulling the knot inside the hoof with them
